Admission Procedure For Study MBBS In Tamil Nadu

Before applying for Tamil Nadu MBBS/BDS admissions in 2024, students must carefully consider all eligibility criteria related to NEET examination scores as part of the admission criteria for 2024 admissions.

Below is a breakdown of Tamil Nadu MBBS/BDS admission eligibility criteria:

  • Students must be at least 17 years old. Before being eligible, they should fulfill both an upper age limit of 25 for general categories and an SC/ST/OBC upper age limit of 30 for SC/ST/OBC categories. Students must also be Indian citizens.
  • Students must present a Nativity Certificate; permanent resident certificates will not be accepted in place of this document.
  • To verify their documents, students will require documentation such as parents' birth certificates, ration cards, SSLC/10/12 certificates, or, in cases of non-literate parents, no graduate certificates for document verification purposes.
  • Students from other states residing in Tamil Nadu but domiciling elsewhere will not be considered domicile candidates; such individuals will fall under the open category.
  • Students who have completed class 12 or equivalent examinations from schools must have taken Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, and English as the main subjects of their curriculum.
  • Unreserved category students must achieve at least 50% marks across PCB-E subjects to pass. SC/ST/OBC candidates must secure 40% of minimum marks; those with disabilities should receive at least 45% minimum.

Documents Required For MBBS Admission In Tamil Nadu

Eligible candidates who take the NEET exam and meet specific eligibility requirements will be invited for counselling once their results are released, after which admission procedures begin. They should bring with them:

Admission of 15% AIQ Seats.

MCC will conduct counseling based on NEET scores at the Medical Counseling Center of Malaysia in two rounds. DME Tamil Nadu organizes seat allotment to 85% of State Quota Seats.

Allotment for admission to private colleges using NEET scores is also organized through DME Tamil Nadu's seat allotment process for state quota seats using NEET scores as admission criteria.

MCC will conduct three rounds of seat allotment for admissions into deemed or central universities.

The Process To Apply For MBBS In Tamil Nadu Admission 2024

  • The Directorate of Medical Education (DME) in Tamil Nadu will release an MBBS/BDS 2023 admission application form during the first week of June following NEET exam results, providing eligible students with an online admission form within specific deadlines and meeting the criteria. Once an application form for Tamil Nadu MBBS or BDS admission has been filled out and sent off to its official address for consideration, further steps for applying are detailed here, as well as how you can apply for admission in Tamil Nadu MBBS admission 2024/2025 and BDS admission here.
  • Visit the Directorate of Medical Education (DME).
  • Navigating to Tamil Nadu MBBS Registration.
  • Enter personal details and upload necessary documents (personal, educational, and NEET details).
  • Upload a passport-size photograph and signature, preview your application before submitting, and click submit once all information is correct. In doing so, the page will lead you directly to our payment portal for processing payments.
  • Payment can only be completed online or offline, with government quota seats costing INR 500 and management quota seats costing INR 1000, respectively. To successfully complete their Tamil Nadu NEET application form 2024, aspirants must upload images scanned according to specifications specified by the authority.

DME Conducts Tamil Nadu MBBS Counselling 2024

Through online and offline counseling sessions, DME administers Tamil Nadu MBBS admission through offline counseling to fill 85% of state quota seats at government medical and dental colleges as well as entrance into private medical and dental colleges located within Tamil Nadu. Three rounds of counseling will take place for this program. At the same time, Mop-up Round is included with NEET counseling 2024 for any students on a merit list selected based on their NEET ranks for admission to private medical and dental colleges located within Tamil Nadu.

  • To gain admission to their desired colleges and courses, students should submit their preferences as soon as they pass document verification following the release of the Tamil Nadu MBBS Merit List.
  • Seats will be allotted based on availability when the candidate enters the counseling hall.
  • However, students will be informed about their counseling procedure on their registered mobile numbers, email IDs, and live seat availability during all aspects of the counseling process.
  • Students should bring all documents deemed essential and recent photocopies with them when attending this counseling session.
  • Once confirmed for seats, students can download their call letters from the official Tamil Nadu Admissions 2024 website.

Merit List Of MBBS Tamil Nadu

The Directorate of Medical Education (DME) in Tamil Nadu will release the merit list based on NEET scores. The DME authority will publish it two weeks before counseling and include information such as state merit rank, names of students who received offers from each institution in the Tamil Nadu MBBS/BDS 2024 counseling process, All India NEET rank obtained, and scores earned. Students will be called into counseling based on their state merit ranks.
